I am a fully up-to-date in training in Safeguarding, which I take very seriously. I undertook what was then called Level C4 training, for senior leaders, in 2018 whilst I was a Residentiary Canon at Salisbury Cathedral. In November 2020 I undertook additional training on the implications of Spiritual abuse. I undertook an additional course in Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse, and a pilot course on Safeguarding for Spiritual Directors, both completed in November 2022. Most recently I completed the regular ‘Leadership’ Safeguarding update in June 2024, on a bespoke stream for clergy with Permission to Officiate.

Up-to-date safeguarding training is a requirement for an Anglican priest to hold the bishop's Permission to Officiate.
